Pau Santos A.K.A Brazilian black heart. This beautiful black wood with many mysteries is sure to make your next wood working experience an interesting one. With a pale yellow sap wood, to its dark black heartwood which can have beautiful streaks of grey and green running through it. With a fine even texture its natural luster will stand out, if not that its interlocking grains sure will.   This wood is rated as moderately durable and resistant to insects

Workability:

Considered to be moderately difficult to work with due to its hardness, and density. Gluing can sometimes be a problem due to its oily nature. This can be overcome by wiping down with a thinner prior to gluing. It does turn very well and will only blunt your tools a small amount!

Uses:

Generally used for Guitars, knife handles, and turning objects. It is a common substitute for Lignum Vitae
