Bass Wood

Basswood's Heart wood and sapwood do not have clearly defined sections, both being pale white and light brown in color. This a non durable wood in regards to decay. The grain s often straight, with a fine even texture. 

Workability

The most suitable wood for hand carving, due to how soft and light the wood is. It glues and finishes well. It is not recommend to be used for steam bending or nailing, as it has poor characteristics for both

Common Uses

Carving, Carving and more carving. and the odd time for musical instruments, veneers, and wood pulp/Fiber products
