Elm

Description:

This beautiful Canadian sourced elm has a pale well defined saw wood, while the heart wood is a medium reddish brown.  The some what uneven texture and the interlocking grain give it a very distinct look. 

Workability:  Having interlocking grain can cause some tear outs. Due to its low janka rating it won't dull your blades. easy enough to machine by hand or with larger tools. Glues stains and finishes well

Often used for boxes, baskets, furniture, and veneers
