Blood Wood

Description

Description:

Bloodwood is a dense, durable hardwood known for its striking deep red to reddish-brown color that often darkens with age. It comes from several tree species found mainly in tropical regions such as South America and Australia. The wood is prized for its strength, hardness, and resistance to wear, insects, and decay. Bloodwood typically has a fine, even texture and a natural luster

Workability:

Bloodwood is considered moderately difficult to work because of its high density and hardness. It can be machined cleanly with sharp tools but tends to dull cutting edges quickly and may burn during sawing or routing. The wood planes and sands to a very smooth surface, though its hardness can make hand tools less effective, and pre-drilling is recommended for nails and screws to prevent splitting

Common uses:

Bloodwood is commonly used for fine furniture, flooring, cabinetry, decorative veneers, turned objects, musical instruments, and specialty items such as knife handles, inlays, and small decorative crafts.
