You have just found the Darkest of Dark woods. This beautiful wood coming from central Asia is rare due to the few natural habitats, and highly desired for the aesthetic appeal and the strength. Its heartwood has many stripes similar to zebra wood. yellow to reddish brown body with dark brown-black stripes. The demarcated sapwood is pale gold in color. .
The grain is straight, and sometimes interlocking. the Fine texture is very uniform and great natural luster.
Workability:
This wood will dull your blades, carbide or steel. Its high density makes it difficult to work with, along with the rare interlocking grains. This wood is prone to checking and splitting during the drying process. Excellent for turning!

Most common uses for this include: High end cabinetry, musical instruments, billiard cues, and other specialty items.
